Does my former 'boss' have a leg to stand on if she trys to sue me?
im a mage therapist and i was renting a room in a hair salon. everything was fine in the beginning but then she said that i what i was wearing to work a scrub top jeans and sneakers wasnt 'professional enough" in her eyes and i needed to step up what i wore because its expect to "dress nice" and "look cute" if i want to work there. witch meant that i had to spend money on a whole new wardrobe and buy more in fashion clothes. i didnt work there to look cute and play dress up i worked there to make money and help people with the their pain and help them relax. and she kept bugging me and hling about it to the point where i quit i stayed because heres were it gets complicated i singed a contract saying that i would give her $200 a week due on the end of the day on every Tuesday of the week. and i was supposed to give her a 30 day notice but i just left and got my stuff one day becuase i found another place to work of that likes the fact i wear scrub tops and jeans and sneakers. We never kept track of the money i just always gave her $200 in cash when i got in on Tuesday morning. when i left i told her i would pay her installments of $200 when i got a new place and got back on my feet. today her receptionist calls me and tells me that i owe her $200 from last week on Tuesday and $25 times 6 for everyday last week plus $200 thats due today but if i gave her $400 by the end of the day today for the two weeks than that would be fine. i would have been fine paying $200 starting today now that im back on my feet but now im going to owe her a bunch of late fees and stuff and i dont feel i should have to pay her anything just because of the total ***** is she was to me when i was working there and the fact that she went against her word and isnt being very flexible about payments. If she really wanted to could she sue or not? The contract was never notarized and the money was never formally kept track of anyways so its really my word against hers isn't it?
